Matt comes from a diverse background of singing: opera, musical theater, pop/rock, and folk. His teaching philosophy upholds that singing of every genre must rely on the same technical fundamentals, and that the approach to teaching each student must be specialized and developed for every individual student.  His vocal technique is aimed towards developing breath support, expanding range, enriching timbre, and finding proper placement. He is a member of the United States Air Force Band Singing Sergeants and performs regularly with Washington National Opera, Washington National Cathedral Choir, Washington Bach Consort, and the Washington Master Chorale.
