Tuesday Concert Series Samuel Springer, organ (12:10 p.m. The Church of the Epiphany, Metro Center)

On Friday, August 15th at 7:30 PM St. Mary's Church in Old Town will be hosting the celebration of the Latin High Mass (Missa Cantata) for the Solemnity of the Assumption. Fr. John DeCelles will be the officiating priest. The Mass will be celebrated according to the Missal of Blessed John XIII (1962). The Mass Ordinary to be sung will be the Gregorian Chant Mass VIII (Mass of the Angels). The Propers will be done by a schola of cantors from St. Mary's. Father Paul Scalia will be the officiating priest. The Mass will be celebrated according to the Missal of Blessed John XIII (1962). The Messe Cum Jubilo by Maurice Durufle will serve as the Mass Ordinary. For the Propers, settings of the Introit and Communion by composer-in- residence, Richard Rice, along with the chanted Gradual / Alleluia and Offertory will be sung by the Gregorian Schola.

    Those wishing to sing the Mass Ordinary with the choir for this service are invited to come to a rehearsal at St. Mary's Church, 310 St. Royal Street, Alexandria, at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, August 13th. If you have sung the Mass of the Angels before, then come and "swell the ranks." The choir will be directed by Tom Parker.
