Lisa currently holds a position of one of twelve staff singers at St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square , The Church of the Presidents (Benjamin Hutto.) Prior to then she sang as a professional member of The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Dr. Leo Nestor.) She also served as staff alto St. John’s Church, Norwood (Edwin Godshall.)
Lisa launched Singer Source in 2004 to fill a void in the management of professional choral singers, ringers, and ensemble soloists in the DC area. Her first-hand experience from within ensembles needing last minute singer replacements led her to fully understand the importance in choosing a balance of voice, skill, and personality to complement an established team.
While born with a good ear (her brother manages Klondike Sound Company,) Lisa attributes her skill in understanding the true mechanics of ensemble blend and verve to her work with Dr. Leo Nestor with The American Repertory Singers (ARS) and The Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. In additional, her cherished tenure with Norman Scribner and The Choral Arts Society of Washington taught her the value in belonging to a dedicated core of volunteer singers whose leader cares as much about the musicians as the music itself.
Lisa was a Vocal Music Teacher and Orff Music specialist at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria for fourteen years and with Fairfax Country Public Schools for three years. Lisa currently serves as Co-Chair of the Advisory Counsel on Instruction of the Arts for Arlington Country Public Schools. Her husband, Ted Faris works for the U.S. Department of State and they have two daughters who sing, play violin, viola, handbells and soccer.
