Vienna Baptist Church is a progressive, inclusive congregation located approximately 3/4 of a mile from the Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metro station near Nutley and I-66. VBC has a long history of quality music in traditional worship, and is currently seeking a Tenor and Baritone/Bass for our Choral Scholars Program. 

The Choral Scholars Program at Vienna Baptist Church will provide 2 students a stipend of $60 per call to share their talent with the choir and congregation at VBC. The Choral Scholars support the volunteer members of the chancel choir. Additional solo and conducting experience is available, but is not a core requirement of the position. Sight reading ability and excellent interpersonal skills are keys for success in this position. 

 Choral Scholars are expected to attend Thursday night rehearsals (7-9 p.m.) and Sunday Morning services (10:30 warm up for an 11:00 service) as well as a variety of extra services throughout the year. Specific details and dates are available upon request. 

To be selected as a Choral Scholar for the 2016-17 academic year, the student must be:

• Enrolled as student (undergraduate or graduate) at an accredited college or university in the Washington DC area pursuing a degree in music or a related field (arts management, theatre, music technology).

• Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by their academic institution.

• Be willing to attend all rehearsals and performances as outlined in the Choral Scholar contract.

• Be willing to be a productive and supportive member of the Chancel Choir during their time as a Choral Scholar.

The Music Program at Vienna Baptist Church is led by Music Minister CJ Redden-Liotta. A graduate of the University of North Texas (BA) and George Mason University (MM), Mr. Redden-Liotta is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from George Mason University. He has an extensive professional career as a singer, conductor, and teacher, which he brings to his rehearsal process at Vienna Baptist Church.
